Julien is happily unemployed and living at his mom’s house. When she sets up a job interview for him at his old school, he runs into his ex-girlfriend Marie, who has some shocking news for him: they have a 15-year-old son.
Jacques, the high school student Julien smoked weed with, turns out to be his son. When Jacques rips him off on a drug deal, Julien tracks him down and uses the deal to get closer to him. They both end up in trouble.
Julien and Jacques start hanging out. As much as Julien tries to play the responsible dad, they’re much more like teenage best friends. Marie is not happy. Meanwhile, Julien’s mom finds out the truth about the job interview.
When Jacques’s friend Benoit is caught with weed, Julien and Marie go to have a talk with his parents. Benoit’s mom seduces Julien and the two start an awkward affair that ends up out in the open, literally.
Jacques is missing. Julien and Marie frantically search all over, from the police station to Julien’s mom’s house, where Marie has a moment of nostalgia. The search ends with Adrien the cop getting too involved for Julien’s comfort.
Julien finds Jacques drunk and throwing up at a house party. But he quickly goes from embarrassing adult to life of the party when he offers to buy them alcohol. When Jacques’s dealer shows up, things get out of hand.
Julien’s friend Lea is in town. When they run into Marie and Adrien, Julien invites them over for an awkward dinner and pretends Lea is his girlfriend. Julien decides to finally express his feelings to Marie, but it doesn’t go well.
It’s Jacques’s birthday and Julien invites himself over for the celebration. Unfortunately, Marie’s parents are there too and they despise him. When deep-seated tensions between Marie and her parents erupt, she walks out on everyone.
Julien tracks Marie down at a club, concerned about her new hard-partying ways. He runs into an old bandmate who stole his songs and is shocked when Marie makes a public gesture in his defense. Is the spark between Julien and Marie being rekindled?
Marie is pregnant. Julien is thrilled to get a second chance at parenting, but Marie doesn’t want to have a baby with Julien in his current situation. Can he finally step up? And can he, Marie, and Jacques finally be a real family?
