Part one examines the escalation of rightist opposition following the left’s unexpected victory. The film follows the increasingly violent tactics used by the right to weaken Allende’s government and provoke a crisis.
Part two shows a left divided over strategy, while the right methodically lays the groundwork for the coup, dramatically ending with the military assault on the presidential palace and Allende’s last messages to the people of Chile.
Part three deals with the creation of thousands of local groups of “popular power” to demand action by the government against the right.
